While I find it very difficult to describe the range of my photography, the formal thread that ties most work together is a sense of quiet and balance following my own interest in the middle path.
My photography is a little cleaner and more colorful than most street documentary work, but more spontaneous than formalist approaches.
Content-wise, it's all over the map (quiet and busy streets, people, car culture, our interactions with nature, light) but with an eye towards that balance, which certainly includes humor.
In addition, I almost never set out to document anything intentionally. I find that boring and it seems to close down routes of interpretation. All of the galleries I've created were arranged after the fact into more thematic groupings that I suppose show my (subconscious) concerns and interests.
The music and images of my first video slideshow probably best encapsulate the mood and themes of my photographs.
I've gone through a number of different phases since I began photographing in 1993, but there's something tying it all together that I want to share.
